3. Decommissioning Cost Estimation Program for Nuclear Power Plants

The construction cost is generally composed of unit construction works and their associated costs which are made by multiplying the required
quantity of construction materials and unit work cost together for each unit construction works. The unit work costs are made inherently for
each construction projects and consist of standard sub works with standard cost estimates. However Korean standard unit construction cost
estimation system is not enough to reasonably estimate the decommissioning cost for nuclear power plants. NESS has been involved in a
goverment sponsored research project to deveop the standard decommissioning process and standard cost estimates for nuclear power
plants, which are used to develop Decommissioning Cost Estimation Program. This software is expected to be completely developed by the end
of 2022.
